Schütze is the lowest rank in the Axis Army. It is a German Heer rank, the Allied equivalent is Private. This is one of the five original Axis ranks, being used since BFE#1. In ViE, it was first used in ViE#6 however, because all previous Axis divisions featured no regular Heer units (actually the AZUL, who first used the rank, wasn't a regular Heer unit either, however, they choose to use this rank, being the first in ViE to do so).

History in VIE/BFE
Origin in BFE
The use of the rank Schütze dates back to the first campaign of Battle For Europe. Initially, Axis were using the same rank designations as their Allied counterparts, but suggestions to use German names were quick to come from the Axis players. After the German player Ewok translated the English rank designations, Schütze was one of the rank names that spread quickly among the community and soon became the only accepted name for the lowest rank on the Axis side. Throughout the VIE/BFE history, Schütze was and still is often misspelled by players of non-German origin. One can often see Shutze, Schutze or Shcutze in the forums. Schütze is the only correct spelling, though one may also write Schuetze if lacking the umlaut ü.
Use in VIE
During the first campaign of ViE, the rank was used as Jäger. In the German rank system, the universal name Schütze is replaced by other designations depending on the unit the soldier belongs to. As the first Axis division was a Gebirgsjäger division, the lowest Axis rank was properly renamed Jäger. The rank first appeared with its true name in ViE#6, used by the Spanish Division AZUL.
Holders
Every soldier in the Axis Army started at this rank. But to be precise, as there wasn't a division using this rank until ViE#6, only the AZUL players that weren't COs or NCOs held this rank so far.
