TS3 Test Server
Hi everyone

There could be some eager beavers with checking out TS3. I have a server running however it could go down if I want to test something. Or it could go down because it crashed.

I have setup the server so that its basically has the same setup as out TS2 server. I have also added a Test Channel group and have putt a few codec options from the default to max. Let me know what you guys think of each.

Download TS3 Client: http://teamspeak.com/?page=downloads

Server IP: 72.232.255.191
Server Port: 9987

Also when you guys test the different codec channels if going to a higher quality doesn't make a difference then don't pick the higher one for the hell of it.

Issues
- No channel commander (whisper to channel family)
* The TS Team has said they plan to add this during the beta period.

Bugs
- Channel Password is not inherited to sub-channels (the TS Team has mentioned this will be fixed in a future build. So for now we will just have to enter the password the first time entering each protected channel)

Notes
As a work around users could create a whisper group that includes the reinforcements and battle channels. The downside to this is that everyone in those channels would hear the whisper chat instead of just the channel commanders. I don't see any work around at this time.

RE: TS3 Test Server
First, muchos thankos to Noble for setting up this testserver !! Wink

My first impression are:

-I can use my mousebutton 5 as "push to talk" ( like I am used to it on pubbing, but in TS2 it was not possible Shy,so personally enough reason to use it in ViE from now on Tongue !!)

-automatic quality detecting on the clientsite

-mutliple installation possibilities, which I don´z have tested so far

-better soundquality during voicecheck on the celt mono quality 7 than on speex 16.3 in TS2

More opinions after tested this beta with 32 ppl on it,maybe we can test it this weekend and use it next wednesday during battle ??

Great job Noble and

RE: TS3 Test Server
If we don't go over 32 people wednesday we could use it and fall back to TS2 if we have problems or we have a huge turnout. But this will need a final ruling by the rest of the CTA's.

My guess is that I won't be able to get a license by wednesday. Right now the site that does the licensing TritonCIA shut their site down until the request load dies down.

As far as the codec's the only concern I have with the CELT is that its Mono and not stereo. Maybe its not a big deal.

RE: TS3 Test Server
Voted None, cause I have no clue. Which client is recommended? The 32-bit, or 64-bit?

Slaphead helped me....

RE: TS3 Test Server
The client would depend on if your OS is 32 or 64bit.

Updated first post with bugs and issues found.

RE: TS3 Test Server
Reinstalled and upgraded to beta3. Still working on a permissions issue. But overall I think this might be workable for us.

Also just got the License for TS3 and will install it tonight.

Oh and the file upload issue should be fixed. So those who tried to upload an avatar I think it should work now.

RE: TS3 Test Server
Definitely a LOT more user-friendly than ts2. If I can test it with other people I can figure out which codec is best...

RE: TS3 Test Server
I am in there right now but I might dump out and go play some TF2. However I should be able to pop on on my PC while in game Smile I guess Smile

Also I am working on some code that will show who is online for the website. Depending on how tomorrow goes I might have it done then. Its almost done.

RE: TS3 Test Server
A couple of issues I've found with TS3 so far:

1. With Vista, you have to run the client in administrator mode (just as TS2) or you get the error message "Teamspeak 3 cannot write to the configuration file. You can use Teamspeak 3, but all settings will be lost!" - took me a while to figure that one out...

2. I tried setting up whisper lists for the axis battle room and reinforcements channels. When I drag and drop the channels into the whisper settings, it seems to only want to recognise them as the allies channels and hence my whispers go to the allies channels. I don't know if this is an issue because the channels are named the same or not, or whether I'm just being really stupid.

RE: TS3 Test Server
Yea... that is weird... thanks for the report. I have renamed the channels to make the names unique. This looks like it fixes the issue. Let me know if it doesn't.

RE: TS3 Test Server
Added a TS3 Info block to the main page. So now you can see who is on the TS3 server.

RE: TS3 Test Server
Beta5 has been released and the server has been updated to beta5.

One note is that there is not a working subscribe to all channels option (on by default). So you don't need to click the eye button to see everyone who is on the server.
